In the European Union, Biocide, as a particular product, is widely used in daily life and industrial fields and is subject to the EU Biocidal Products Regulations-BPR and Member States regulations. Regulation.

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU), 2021/365 of February 26, 2021, authorizes the use of active chlorine released by hypochlorous acid as an active substance in biocidal products of product-type 1, as shown in the picture below.

Biocide Product Regulations

Biocidal agents are collectively referred to as active ingredients or compounds that can prevent, inhibit, or kill pests when applied to humans, animals, or industrial materials and products in the European Union. Biocides cover a wide range of products. According to Annex V of the Eu Biocides Regulation (BPD), it mainly includes the following contents:

Biocides, as a particular class of products, mainly include disinfectants, preservatives, and pest control agents. Biocides are widely used in daily life and industrial fields, such as personal care, public place disinfection, drinking water, industrial water treatment, wood, emulsion, paint, coating, leather, textile anticorrosion, rodent control, algae removal, antifouling, and other uses. In the European Union, this type of product has a unique regulatory regulation - Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR-Biocidal Products Regulation, EU No. 528/2012).

Hypochlorous acid is approved by the European Union

The European Commission enforces Regulation No. 2021/347 of 25 February 2021, which authorizes the release of active chlorine from hypochlorous acid as an active substance for use in biocides of categories 2, 3, 4, and 5.
